A few changes worth knowing about
Some things have been shifting here at Gardener of Life, and this feels like the right morning to lay them out plainly. Not a big announcement — more like what you'd say sitting on the porch when the season is turning and you can see what's coming.
First, a small one. What you've been reading as the Sunday Harvest is now the Sunday Digest. Same purpose — a weekly ledger of where we've been and what went out — just a name that fits the work more honestly. A harvest implies you're done. A digest means you're still chewing on it. That felt right.
The bigger change is the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday posts. Those have been living on Micro.blog — short, seed-sized observations, written for the moment. That changes this month. Those posts move to Ghost, with more room to develop the thought. The science-and-field tension that lives in the longer work will start showing up here too. More substance, same voice. These will be free during this development period. At some point — when the time is right and the trigger makes sense — they move to the paid tier. I'll give you plenty of notice when that day is coming.
Micro.blog isn't going anywhere, but its job is getting clearer. It's where I'll point you toward things that caught my attention in the moment — a new article worth your time, an app I've been poking at, a recipe I tried that's worth passing along. Field notes of a different kind. That continues on its own terms, cross-posting to Bluesky and Mastodon the way it always has.
Tuesday's Long View is changing shape too, though the spirit stays the same. It's becoming a weekly summary — pulling together the threads from that week's Monday, Wednesday, and Friday posts into one longer piece. Same canonical home on Ghost, same full voice, From the Field section included. Think of it less as a fourth post and more as the week's thinking, gathered up and looked at together.
Thursday's Substack republish and Saturday's Medium rewrite stay exactly as they are. Those are settled and working. No reason to touch them yet — though once we've got some readers in the mix, I may take a second look at how the Substack piece relates to the Long View it's drawing from.
The last thing — and this one I've been sitting with for a while — is the SoloGardener Chronicles. That starts this month on Ghost. It's personal history. Twenty-seven years of farming. The people and places and moments that shaped the thinking behind all of this — Sophie and Sagewood and the rest of it have a home here now, separate from the pillar work. It will have its own identity on Ghost, clearly separate from the main content, though you'll see it surface in the Digest when something goes out. It's not Gardener of Life — it's the root system underneath it.
That's the full picture. Nothing here is a pivot or a reinvention. It's more like what happens when you've been watching a field long enough to know which rows are ready to open up.
